The shoe-shaped, jungle-like office 🌴

ING Office

Ever seen a building that’s shaped like a chukka boot? We hadn’t either, until we came across ING Group’s head office in the Netherlands. 🥾

The shoe-shaped building stands above ground on columns that range from 9 to 12 meters tall. Within it lie large spaces like atriums, gardens and patios, which provide stunning panoramic views from the common areas such as the restaurant and auditorium.

Because of its location (right next to a motorway) and the big amount of solar heat it absorbs, MVSA Architects decided to create ample green spaces within the building to purify the air naturally as well as control the temperature and humidity levels. Genius or what? 🍃

The space beneath the building isn’t wasted, either: below the building sits an approach road for taxis, coaches and chauffeurs. And beneath that lies a vast car park and bicycle garage for employees.

What do you think of this unusual office space? Reply and let us know!

3 habits that minimize workplace chaos

Work can be overwhelming — definitely.

And, when we’re overwhelmed, it’s easier to misplace, forget and confuse things. However, adopting some helpful habits can allow us to remain organized and focused, preserving our productivity amidst the chaos. These are:

  • Write down notes. Doing this by hand helps you retain the information better than typing does. ✍️

  • Use reminders — plenty of them. The moment you’re assigned something, make a habit of setting reminders to start working.

  • Declutter. Yes, that includes your actual desk drawers, your desktop and your inbox. Oh, and use labels and tags while you’re at it.
