From Harvard dropout to multimillionaire 💰
In many cases, we consider dropping out of school to be equal to failure… Despite knowing that magnates like Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and Richard Branson cut their studies short. Well, the person in this story similarly left her spot at Harvard Business School with the intention to start her own business.
We’re talking about Alexa von Tobel, 24 years old at the time, who started her online advisory, LearnVest, amidst the 2008 recession. “I think you’re ruining your career”, friends and family told her. But von Tobel still listened to her gut. 😱
Within 12 months, she had raised over $ 1m from venture capital and angel investors. Seven years later, she sold the company to Northwestern Mutual for a staggering $ 375m, and is currently managing a New York-based venture fund, investing in early-stage startups. Moral of the story? Sometimes having a hunch is all it takes to achieve remarkable things. 😉
